Founder of the EFDC company, Efi Farmaki, a Greek choreographer established in France, brought together a group of performers and creators of various artistic disciplines.
The Company develops a work that is part of the field of dance-theater, where the main means of expression are the human body in its gestures as in the sounds it can produce, breath, voice or body percussion.
The visual dimension plays an important role in creating poetic, dreamlike, strange universes in which the improbable substitutes for our daily reality, for a journey where everything is possible, as in a dream.
The company’s gestural vocabulary integrates and mixes elements from various cultural sources, which add to the grammar and thought of contemporary dance.
Rather than defined gestural sequences, he favors structured improvisation systems, regulated by the mechanism of the connection and the fusion of the group.
In terms of aesthetics, the company is influenced by butoh, Greek tragedy, Pina Bausch’s dance-theater, and traditional Asian dances, including Indonesia, Korea, and Japan.
The Company’s first project, entitled The Chorus, is in production in 2017.
For this project, the Company has been selected by la Fabrique de la Danse for its Choreographer Incubator program for the 2016-17 period. It also benefits from the support of the City of Issy-les-Moulineaux.
Efi Farmaki Dance Company (EΦDC) is an association created in 2016 in Issy-les-Moulineaux.
